Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden
Tucked in the popular Rainey St. district, this ginormous beer garden serves up, well, sausage and beer. With 100 taps on the wall you’re bound to find something you like.
Billy’s on Burnet
Billy’s on Burnet, to me, is a perfect example of a neighborhood dive bar that serves up damn good burgers with damn good beer at very reasonable prices.
Black Sheep Lodge
This South Lamar dive bar has a fantastic patio, killer burgers and craft beer to boot. Can you dig it?
Buy High, Drink Up. Wait, no, Buy Low. Yep, just like the stock market, just without all of the screaming and more craft beer. 72 taps to be exact. Late night weekend crowd can be a little ‘iffy’ but it’s still a fun place to go during low times.
One of few craft beer bars in the heart of downtown with 20 rotating taps, 2 beer engines and 2 an upper floor to look down upon late night drunkards.
This newcomer to the Austin beer bar scene has made quite an impact by supporting only Texas craft beer on its 54 tap wall (2 beer engines as well) at the end of Hipster St (Rainey St.). The owners are great people that are passionate about craft beer and supporting their local community.
The OG. 45 years in the making. The Draught House is everything a beer bar should be with its relaxing environment and unparalleled passion towards serving quality craft beer.
A small space neighborhood craft beer and cocktail bar in the North Loop district that also serves up some great food.
Easy Tiger makes almost everything in house, including their own pretzels, bread, sausage and corned beef (to die for!). Their beer selection is good, but I wish there were more local options to pair with the fantastic food.
A Houston based pub that became a favorite among Austin locals. Many disliked the move from its original location (just one street over) but they got over it. You won’t find any TVs here, just lively conversations and a kick ass patio.
Not really a bar, but you can get your growler filled for cheap here and they mainly carry beers that are available on draft only. They now have two locations, one north and one south. See website for details.
Sandwiches, poutine and beer; what’s not to like?
Hi Hat Public House
The new kids on the block (East 6th near Hops & Grain) are making heads turn with live music, made-from-scratch food and quality craft beer.
A gastro bistro (yeah, just made that up) serving up amazing French inspired food along with craft beer. Get the burger, trust me.
Opal Divine’s has three locations in Austin. While not a fan of the food, they serve plenty of quality craft beer, boubon, scotch and every other liquor conceived to make up for it. All locations have great patios to boot.
Porter Ale House Gastropub
The newest gastropub to hit the streets of Austin. We’ve yet to try it but have heard nothing but great things with their beer and food selections.
One of the biggest patios in Austin with a fantastic view of the Austin Greenbelt also houses a great beer selection. The relaxed atmosphere of Red’s Porch is great for large groups and is very family friendly.
A truly unique place that is a convenience store/beer bar/brewpub/wine bar/Tex-Mex-Indian Fusion restaurant. Favorites include the Brahmale (IPA), Austonerveisse (Berliner Weisse) and Sita’s Revenge (Saison).
A small local pub that appears to be a dive but is not quite that, more like a neighborhood hole-in-the-wall with a great craft beer selection.
Wright Bros Brew & Brew
An artisan coffee shop/beer bar in the old Progress location on East 5th St started by two brothers that have an immense passion for both coffee and beer. Pull up a stool and enjoy a coffee alongside a coffee beer!
